Joseph “Joe” Marinaccio for Gulf Shores City Council

My name is Joe Marinaccio, and my wife Ellen and I have proudly called Gulf Shores home for the past four years. I am a licensed structural engineer with over 40 years of experience in engineering, project management, and public service. I currently run a small structural engineering consulting business here in our community.

Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to serving the public. I spent 31 years with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), where I managed the design and construction of Federal buildings and U.S. courthouses across the Southeastern United States. In my final 13 years with GSA, I served as Branch Chief for the Capital Construction Program, overseeing a $2 billion portfolio. In that role, I worked closely with members of Congress, federal judges, and state and local officials to plan, fund, and execute critical infrastructure projects.

I hold both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering and bring a deep understanding of how thoughtful planning and smart investments can shape vibrant, sustainable communities.

Here in Gulf Shores, I remain actively involved in protecting and enhancing the unique character of our city. I am a member of the Little Lagoon Preservation Society’s Water Sampling Team and an Oyster Gardener, helping monitor and improve the health of our coastal ecosystem. I am also a proud graduate of the Gulf Shores Citizens Police Academy. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the area on my motorcycle.

I am running for City Council to bring fresh ideas, new energy, and a results-driven perspective to the table. I believe our city is at a critical juncture, and we need leadership that listens, leads with integrity, and acts in the best interest of all residents. Too often, our current Council seems out of touch with the people they were elected to serve. I want to change that.

With my background in public infrastructure, collaborative leadership, and community engagement, I will work tirelessly to ensure Gulf Shores continues to grow responsibly, protect its natural resources, and remain a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
